Take time out for yourself and connect with a counselor who can give you the support you need. Online Counseling and Therapy allows you to connect with your therapist online, through secure video conferencing.

Telehealth/Online counseling gives you the opportunity to explore challenges in life without having to further complicate your daily schedule by traveling to your therapist’s office.

It is a great way to engage in your own self-care, while gaining tools to help you better handle negative thoughts, painful feelings, difficult relationships, home and work stress. Just as we do in traditional in-person counseling, telemental health removes the barriers that are keeping you from seeking help and making positive changes in your life.

While our physical offices are located in the Seattle area, with online counseling we can now serve rural Washington, no matter where you live!

Make time for Self Care. It’s easy with Online Counseling

Research shows that telemental health has all the same benefits and efficacy as traditional in-person therapy, but with the convenience of meeting from the comfort of your home or office.

Ultimately the form of therapy doesn’t matter as much as the quality of relationship between you and your therapist. That’s why rather than focusing on the format of therapy or specific methods we work to connect you with the best counselor that fits your needs.

It’s time to seek help if you have developed:

  • Feeling overwhelmed or stressed during most of your day. Stress can weigh heavily on people. This is why we offer stress management education and mindfulness techniques that better put stress into perspective.
  • General apathy, depression or fatigue
  • Changes in sleep
  • Changes in appetite. Changes in sleep and appetite can be physical signs of severe emotional pain.
  • Phobias or compulsions. If you feel like you are not in control of your fear or behaviors at certain times, therapy can help.
  • Over-emotionality. Some people are more emotional than others, but if you find yourself with outsized emotions for a given situation, therapy can help you find better emotional regulation.

Online Counseling for Depression

Researchers compared online to in person therapy for a group of 62 people that both received the same treatment for depression for the same amount of time.  They found that each received comparable reduction in depression symptoms, with the online group finding slightly better long term benefit.

Looking at these results cautiously, it appears that the differences between in person and online therapy are minimal. [1] The research also noted similar decreases in anxiety, hopelessness and thoughts of suicide.

Online counseling for panic disorder, social anxiety, general anxiety (and depression)

In 2010, researchers looked at the average results of 64 studies comparing online counseling with in person counseling for treatment of anxiety. They found that across the board, in person and online therapies both resulted in similar improvement. [2][3]

Online counseling can be particularly beneficial for those with social anxiety as it means there is less of a barrier (less in person conversations) between the client and therapy. If you are considering online counseling for depression contact us and talk with one of our anxiety therapists.

Marriage Counseling Online

The benefits we see in therapy for individuals are echoed in the benefits we see among couples working with our couples counselors. While many couples are skeptical about online relationship counseling at first, the results they see eventually win them over. If you come to online counseling with an open mind, we can work well together.

In one of few academic studies on the subject, by the end of therapy, couples surveyed all described online counseling as different, but not worse than in person sessions. [4] The best results in couples counseling are achieved when couples take control of their relationship and don’t feel pressured or forced to make changes from outside forces (such as a therapist) so some couples find the physical distance between them and the therapist beneficial when working through their concerns.

If you are considering online couples counseling, talk with one of our couples therapists today.

How Online Counseling Works/How-To:

We recommend that our clients use a desktop computer or laptop for the best connection to be established. There is nothing to download prior to your appointment. Here are the steps to join you session:

  • Download ZOOM app or you connect via Browser
  • About 10 minutes before your appointment, you’ll receive an email appointment reminder with the link to join your call. Please note that the link to join the Telehealth call will only be in your email reminder and not in your text reminder. If you’re set up to receive text reminders, the exact time you receive your text reminder may vary based on your cell phone carrier.
    • Note: If you have already consented to receiving text and/or email reminders, you will continue to receive them for Telehealth appointments as well. If you’re a new client, make sure that you’ve provided your email and or mobile phone number so that we can enable email or text appointment reminders for you.
  • Click the unique link embedded in the email reminder. You may have to copy and paste the link into your web browser if clicking the link does not work. Your video call screen will now open in a new tab.
  • If I have already joined the call, you will see your therapist’s name on the screen. If I have not, you will see yourself and a “waiting screen.”
  • You will also see the Welcome prompt. Click “test internet connection” to test your internet speed.
  • When you are ready, type your name where it says Enter your name to join, and click Join Video Call. This will take you straight into the video call.
